When your van’s feeling rougher than a ferry in a storm, it might be time for a little PP Tuning magic…
From Portugal to Lincolnshire
This morning, we welcomed a proper road warrior. A chap who’d driven his VW T6.1 all the way from Portugal to visit PP Tuning.
Dedication? Absolutely.
But while he was loving the trip, his van… wasn’t.
Under the bonnet, the infamous DCM6.2 ECU was playing silly buggers, and the DPF was caked with 30g of soot! Not ideal when you’re trying to cruise through Europe without a hiccup.
Soot Happens: DPF Drama Resolved
First things first: we sorted a full DPF regeneration to blast away that soot mountain. Honestly, 30 grams is enough to bake a cake (don’t try that at home). After a proper clean-out, the engine could finally breathe again.
Our Maha rolling road made light work of live data logging while we got the van back into shape. No guesswork here, just precision and proper results.
Pendle Power + Fresh Software = Happy Engine
Next up, we hit it with a fresh Pendle Performance remap, dialled in specifically for that DCM6.2 setup. We then ran full adaptations to make sure everything was talking nicely and behaving itself.

The outcome? 168bhp and 315Nm through the 5-speed ‘box. That’s more pull than your nan’s Sunday roast, and a drive smoother than a Lisbon tram.
Why They Come from Miles Around
It’s not just about the power figures. It’s about the PP Tuning experience. Expert advice, honest work, no bull. People trust us because we deliver – whether you’re around the corner or across the continent.
Got a Few Questions about Remapping and DPF?
What Is a DPF Regeneration and Why Is It Important for My VW T6.1?
A DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) regeneration is the process of burning off soot and particulate matter that builds up in your exhaust system over time. If left untreated, this build-up can restrict exhaust flow, reduce performance, and eventually lead to expensive repairs or limp mode. At PP Tuning, we perform both static and dynamic DPF regens; restoring engine breathing, improving fuel economy, and saving you hassle down the road.
Is Remapping My VW T6.1 Safe, and What Does It Involve?
Yes. Remapping your T6.1 is completely safe when done properly. At PP Tuning, we use a trusted Pendle Performance remap, custom-tailored to your vehicle’s setup and mileage. We run every van on our Maha rolling road to ensure accurate diagnostics and safe delivery of power. Our process ensures better drivability, improved torque, and a noticeable performance boost without risking your engine or gearbox.
Can I Get My Van Tuned Remotely, or Do I Need to Visit PP Tuning in Person?
For most VW T6.1s, especially those with DPF issues or DCM6.2 ECUs, a physical visit is essential. We use a controlled workshop environment, live data logging, and dyno testing to ensure everything is running perfectly. It’s not just about loading a map, it’s about diagnosing and refining your van’s setup. Many of our customers travel across the UK (and Europe!) to get it done properly.
How Much Extra Power Can I Expect from a Remap on a VW T6.1?
Power gains depend on your engine type, gearbox, and whether any hardware issues are present (like a blocked DPF). For example, we recently tuned a stock VW T6.1 5-speed van and took it from sluggish to a smooth 168bhp and 315Nm. With the right prep, DPF regen, clean intake, and a quality map, those gains are typical at PP Tuning.
Got a T6.1 feeling flat? We’ll have it singing like a Fado singer in no time.
